Perhaps the arrangements of planets and constellations indeed ratify some traits of our character; still, to better comprehend Adrian Flodden in the spring of 2001, we shall not draw any diagrams reckoning the coordinates of this or that object in the sky, for it would suffice to play "TNT" by AC/DC, which song he had adopted as his card, or take "Running wild" by JUDAS PRIEST as though the radiograph of his soul.
The Hell Patrol is back in this prequel where the music of Thin Lizzy, Def Leppard, Kiss, Dokken and Bon Jovi among many other bands, tells the mishaps, conflicts, fantasies and secrets of the cast, suggesting, as this narrative evokes stories by consecrated authors, that modern relationships are, paradoxically, ruled by patterns of yore.
STARGAZER Book II A rock satire 2 edition by Ricardo Jasso Moedano Arts Photography eBooks
Prequel to Stargazer, Stargazer Vol II is an interesting story that follows a curious chap by the name of Adrian Flodden, who probably loves 70's and 80's hard rock just a little bit too much (is there even such a possibility?)Adrian is a playboy of sorts, stuck in the middle of a multifaceted love triangle of his own making. He jumps from one girl to another, trying to play one against the other as he is simultaneously made the pawn of other girls own love games. He has only one rival, a scrawny kid that chases the same girls as Adrian, thinking himself the better man, the higher quality candidate.
Though not a very long story at just 24,000 words, it is filled with a wide cast of characters, each fairly believable--some loveable and others equally hate-able.
Adrian is leader of a gang of sorts, though with the many rock references, you have to wonder if his gang is nothing more than wannabe rock band cruisin' town in a car called the `Stormbringer' (that's right, it's named after Deep Purple's 9th album!)
Through the story Adrian chases mainly two women, but he never limits his play field to just two. Strangely enough, many of the characters are somehow related to the others. Moedano indeed weaves a tangled web.
We follow Adrian through a couple months in his life, and he tends to grow up from his adolescent ways as realizes he really is not the object of desire of every woman in sight as he so long assumed.
Written like a docu-drama and told from the perspective of the author himself, you find yourself wondering if this actually happened. From Black Sabbath and Def Leppard to Thin Lizzy, Bon Jovi , and more, Moedano skillfully interweaves Shakespeare, the classics (such as Jane Eyre) and a plethora of heavy metal bands and their songs into this tapestry of love; indeed it reads like a who's who of rock. Forget that iPod--you'll want to break out your old cassettes and records and play along, as this story has its own built-in sound track.
